Description

York Shackleton’s hard hitting style captures this cautionary tale of the perils of today’s at risk youth. Based on actual events “1 Out of 7” takes you on a journey with the lead character “Lexi” played by Laura Ramsey (The Ruins, Lords of Dogtown) as she seeks to escape her overbearing mother “Jan” played by screen veteran Theresa Russell (Spiderman 3, The Last Tycoon”).

After another abusive incident, what starts out as a night out with one of her girlfriends “Tasha” (Kelly Kruger ,The Young and the Restless) she soon becomes abandoned resulting into a life among the forgotten and disfranchised “street-kids” on the streets of Portland, Oregon.

This journey takes you on an emotional ride as “Lexy” meets a handsome street kid “Eric” played by Toby Hemingway (Feast of Love, The Covenant) as her search for belonging and new found love blinds her of the unforeseen consequences of this new existence in the shadows.

Lexi’s underground life crumbles when “Eric” abandons her in search of his next high and she finds herself again alone among the forgotten souls and drug addicts that litter the streets of Portland.

Overwhelmed by despair and loneliness Lexi turns to the support “Devon” played by established star Vivica A. Fox (Soul Food, Independence Day) a mother with her own demons, when Lexi’s life is again rocked by her discovery that she is now pregnant with Eric’s child.

An emotional bonds builds as “Devon” in her own way makes up for past mistakes by nursing “Lexi” toward her impending delivery. This bond is abruptly broken when “Eric” reappears and a downward spiral ensues toward this film’s gripping conclusion.
