- A Mother's Courage: Talking Back to Autism
-
A Mother’s Courage: Talking Back to Autism (a.k.a The Sunshine Boy), a documentary by Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, tells the story of Margret, a mother who has done everything in her power to help her son. Keli is eleven years old and is severely autistic - his mother doesn‘t even know if he understands Icelandic, let alone other languages. Even if Margret holds no unrealistic expectations on behalf of Keli, she has the quenchless thirst for knowledge about the mysterious and complex condition that autism undeniably is. Along they way, Margret meets other families and hears their unique stories about how they too have been touched by autism.

Event Info
**Please wear blue to the event in honor of autism awareness**
In Landen's Light is a fundraising event to help raise money for a financial assistance fund that is dedicated for families enrolled in the C.A.R.E.S. program at Texas State University that are struggling to pay for their dependent's ABA behavioral therapy costs. Unfortunately, many insurance companies do not cover ABA (applied behavioral analysis) behavioral therapy, therefore the vast majority of families are subject to the high out of pocket costs associated with this necessary treatment for their dependents with autism and other developmental disabilities. Due to the therapy costs, most dependents are not receiving the amount of therapy needed to make a large impact in their treatment plans, and some are simply falling behind on being able to cover the costs.
Not only has Landen advanced tremendously from his treatment at C.A.R.E.S., but the staff has provided our family with a support team that is unmatched by any other therapy or programs that we have sought out for Landen in our quest to help him unlock his potential. Please join us on July 15th to learn more about autism through our movie selection, "A Mother's Courage, Talking Back to Autism," as well as to help make a difference in a family's life. Thank you in advance for your support!
